TREETOPS HONORED BY GOLFWEEK
Resort named one of the “Top 10 Places to Play Before You Die”
GAYLORD,
Mich. (Dec. 7, 2004) — Treetops Resort, located in the heart of the
“America’s Summer Golf Capital” in Northern Michigan, has been
named one of the “Top 10 Places to Play Before You Die” by Golfweek
magazine, one of the golf’ industry’s top publications.
Golfweek’s
panel of writers visited each of the premier resorts so honored.
Treetops was included with such high profile destinations as Bandon
Dunes Resort, Pinehurst, Kiawah, Pebble Beach, Whistling Straits,
Greenbrier, and Homestead in Virginia.
“We are not presumptuous enough to firmly label them as the 10 best
resorts in the United States, but this collection certainly would rank
at or near the top of anyone’s list, “ the article said. It appeared
in the Nov. 20, 2004, edition of Golfweek.
The honor of being listed among the top 10 resorts was extremely
gratifying to Rick Smith, the managing partner who purchased the resort
two years ago with a group of investors. "It is a great feeling and an
honor to be placed on the short list with these other prominent golf
resorts. The growing popularity of Treetops nationally is very
gratifying and our future direction will surely increase our exposure
even more,” Smith said.
In the past couple of years, Treetops has spent $1.8-million to
renovate its lodge, add a boutique spa, upgrade its food and beverage,
add thoughtful children’s programs and new outdoor activities and
improved maintenance on its four golf courses. In addition, a new real
estate development is under construction. That development will include
an enclave of single-family cottages, known as the Masterpiece Residence
Club, to be sold as fractional ownerships.
Treetops is a full-service, four-season resort. It offers 81 holes of
championship golf, 23 downhill ski runs, an expanded tubing and
terrain-park, Michigan's largest snowboard half-pipe and indoor and
outdoor swimming pools. Treetops also has three restaurants, a new spa
and fitness center, a child development center and several retail shops.
Treetops offers 252 guest rooms, newly remodeled suites and hospitality
rooms, and two- and three-bedroom condominiums. A 10,000 square foot
convention center and other meeting rooms are available for banquets and
conferences.
