Two-Time US Open Champion Wins the
7th ING Par 3 Shootout at Treetops Resort
TREETOPS VILLAGE, MICHIGAN: Andy North said he had a good feeling when he pulled into the entrance drive, a very good feeling. In big gold letters he read the sign “TREETOPS NORTH”, the sign the has beckoned golfers for many years and leads them to the clubhouse that is home to 63 of Treetops’ famed 81 holes. “When I saw that, TREETOPS NORTH, I thought, well this place might treat me right.” And did it ever. Andy North, at the Treetops North facility just 3.9 miles north of the Resort’s main complex, and home to the “Best Par 3 Course” in America, peppered the flag and made the big putts over two days to win a combined $350,000 in closest to the pin and skin money. Gary McCord enjoyed a $90,000 check in his debut performance in the event, and two of biggest names in golf, Phil Mickelson and Fred Couples shared third with $50,000 apiece. With North’s title comes an automatic invite to the event next year. And is Andy excited about coming back next year to Treetops to defend. “Are you kidding?
