Courses

Masterpiece

Robert Trent Jones, Sr.'s final design in Michigan is truly a masterpiece. In his own words, Jones claimed it as his crowning glory. The course is located at the headwaters of the Pigeon River and takes full advantage of natural valleys, ravines and broad plains. The signature sixth hole features a 120' vertical drop and a panoramic view of the Pigeon River Valley. The Masterpiece has earned the reputation as a challenging course that is as much fun to look at as it is to play. The famed Par 3 sixth inspired Mr. Jones to coin the name Treetops...and the rest is history.

Premier

Tom Fazio, America's number one golf course architect in the 1990s, brought his talent and vision to Treetops. The Fazio Premier blends in perfectly with the undulating terrain in Northern Michigan. It is also the only Tom Fazio designed course in Michigan. Many have described the Premier as user friendly, with its wide, bowl-shaped fairways and large undulating greens. The Premier also features one of the finest collection of short par 4's found anywhere. The Fazio Premier still ranks among Golfweek's list of the "Top 100 Resort Courses."

Signature

Rick Smith’s first 18 hole design after tutelage from Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Tom Fazio combines the natural beauty of beautiful of Northern Michigan with unique design features one might find in Ireland. In 2007, the "Signature" debuted on Golf for Women's list of the Top 50 course at #29 due to its beauty and playability.  The stunning layout has 13 elevated tees and provides views of up to 30 miles.  The diversity of its five tee choices will give golfers of all abilities a fair test of golf.

Threetops

Rick Smith's first par three-designed golf course, has been receiving national recognition since it opened in 1992. It consistently ranks as the #1 par three course in America by Golf Magazine, Golfweek, Golf & Travel and several others and is perhaps the most recognized par three course in America. For a number of years, Threetops hosted the ESPN Par 3 Shootout. Lee Trevino recorded an ace on #7 during the Shootout in 2001. The course itself features elevated greens and tees with noticeable slopes.

Tradition

Tradition is a links style course which pays homage to golf's origin. The course is well named as it features “traditional” wooden pins and pennant flags. The links-style layout takes advantage of high ridges and hilltops, with holes one through nine wrapping back around to the starter house, allowing for nine-hole play. Golfers are given the option of riding or walking. In 2008, the Tradition joined the other courses at Treetops on Golf Digest's list of 4 1/2-star courses.
